INDI, new in the HNSKY planetarium program was created by han

The free "Hallo Northern Sky" planetarium program is besides for MSWindows also developed for Linux and INDI. In the latest alpha version 3.3alpha5, de INDI interface is introduced. I'm interested in people who are willing to test the new interface under Linux. You can download the alpha version from:

The Windows version of the program is tested with the Windows INDI server 2.1 from Cloudmakers.eu. The program can slew the telescope to the mouse position, sync the telescope position and abort the slew. For this use the right mouse button. The telescope position is shown on the map. A temporary logging is available of the commandos send/received.

My OS is Ubuntu 16.04 (64 bit). I don't have any ASCOM drivers on my computer.

I can't connect to indi_simulator_telescope because HNSKY is trying to contact with ASCOM telescope driver...

After clicking on the button "connection INDI server" this button turns green indicating the server connection is made. The list box below is then filled with the available drivers based on the server response. Select here your telescope driver. Then click on button "connection telescope". You could hit save settings to make it permanent.
I presume you haven't selected (or found) the correct driver in the listbox. If not then there is something wrong.

If you can't select your telescope driver, then I'm most interested in the logging. Disconnect from the server, Click on the small button (activate logging). I little awkward, but a memo field will be shown in the main screen. Then click again on the button "connection INDI server" The memo field will show the request of HNSKY and the server response. HNSKY should read/filter out the telescope devices from the server response Can you reply with a copy of the of the memo field?

Yes, I can't select the indi_simulator_telescope because it is missing in menu "Select the name of the telescope" (see attached picture).

I'm working on it. I understand from the logging that the executable file is named indi_simulator_telescope based on:

indi_simulator_telescope

However I assume the name in the server communication is Telescope Simulator based on

<defTextVector device="Telescope Simulator" name="DRIVER_INFO"

So this Telescope Simulator should be in the listbox.

Is this correct?

I also noticed that the " is used rather then ' In the INDI server for Windows the single apostrophe is used ???

Yes, "Telescope Simulator" is the name of driver indi_simulator_telescope
In my case, I have only the "ASCOM Simulator Telescope" in listbox "Select the name of the telescope" .

I will rework the code. The INDI white paper uses the double apostrophe, so I'm a little puzzeled that the wINDI server log shows and accepts single apostrophe. :(

I just started with INDI 10 days ago. Those two program look like clients. What functionality are you looking for? In principle the main tasks are to control the telescope (&dome&focuser) and camera. Then access good integrated databases and deepsky survey.

Looks like a CRLF is included. Characters like #10 #13. This is also visible in the log:

No problem. You can just edit the name and remove these two characters.Does it work if you remove these characters? I will build in a trim/filter in the next version.

p.s. which server &simulator are you using. I will then try to replicate the setup.
