Hi,

It seems to work. I can drive my mount again. I can not do real testing because of bad weather. I will say if everything works, especially if the problem of autoguiding reported here is solved.

Thanks

Hi guys

I'm trying to connect to my EQ6-R whith the EQMod driver via the hand controller.
I run the latest git 7d5271f on an odroid XU4 and use an "pl2303" usb-RS232 converter.
When using
screen /dev/ttyUSB0 9600
I can talk to the mount and issue command and slew it.
However when trying to connect indi I get the following response
2017-08-09T20:00:22: dispatch_command: ":e1", 4 bytes written

Niko, others can correct me if I am wrong, but I think you use the wrong driver. EQMod is for EQ mounts connected with EQDir cable. With handcontroller, you should use SynScan driver.

arghh, that's probably the dumbest rookie mistake one can make.

Now I at least have a proper incentive to build a 1.8 to 3.3 V level shifter to use the GPIO UART :)

Thanks

It's still possible to use EQMod this way if you put the controller in PC-Direct mode.

Hello there!

I am experiencing the same issues and I was wondering if this has been resolved or if it occurs again for some strange reasons.

I have built myself the usb cable for a SkyWatcher HEQ-5 by using a FTDI TTL-232R-5V and a RJ-45 cable

lsusb:
dmesg:

[ 1782.089199] usb 1-1.4: new full-speed USB device number 6 using dwc_otg
[ 1782.245183] usb 1-1.4: New USB device found, idVendor=0403, idProduct=6001
[ 1782.245194] usb 1-1.4: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
[ 1782.245198] usb 1-1.4: Product: TTL232R
[ 1782.245203] usb 1-1.4: Manufacturer: FTDI
[ 1782.245207] usb 1-1.4: SerialNumber: FTA5JEFP
[ 1782.251731] ftdi_sio 1-1.4:1.0: FTDI USB Serial Device converter detected
[ 1782.251830] usb 1-1.4: Detected FT232RL
[ 1782.252809] usb 1-1.4: FTDI USB Serial Device converter now attached to ttyUSB1

Ekos / INDI reports:
I have installed INDI (Ekos, Kstars…) by using the AstroPi3 script on a Raspberry Pi 3 on Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS and I think I am on the latest version (sudo apt-get upgrade && sudo apt-get upgrade already done a couple of times).

Any help is greatly appreciated, I am trying to get this to work for the last three days. :-(

EDIT:
I updated to the nightly version and the error message is different now:
I guess I need to find out what driver or process uses the port?!
