Bresser Exos Goto? was created by Ilia

Hello,
A friend of mine has bought a Bresser eq5 GoTo mount, which is controlled by an Exos 2 handset.
Is it possible to control it using the PC? The manual says that there is an RS-232 connector, but in other forums they say it's not functional at all.
Thanks for any suggestion!

Does not directly answer your question, but closely related to it.

Explore Scientific sells the Bresser Exos2 with an open source controller called PMC8.

Here it is:

This is the controller

And the programmer's reference manual for it:

A driver is being developed by Michael for the PCM8. Should be available testing soon.

The current driver only supports the G11 variant - you might be able to leverage the code for a different mount but we'd need to get help from ES to figure out all the gearing differences.
