I have a SharpSky PRO Focuser on my imaging setup. Is there a LINUX driver for this focuser or should I use a generic USB focuser?

Regards

Chris

There is no INDI driver for it, you can ask the manufacturer for documentation on controlling the focuser.

Thanks for your reply Jasem. I've emailed Dave Trewen if he has an INDI compatible driver for this focuser. It could be that it is compatible with the ROBO focus
as it shares some common components. If we can get the specifics would it be easy to write a driver for it?

Regards

Chris

If there is a documented protocol then developing a driver wouldn't be too difficult.

I just heard through the grapevine that there is a Windows10 DISTI for the Raspberry Pi. I was wondering
If I could run this with the ASCOM Drivers for my SharpSky PRO and the WINDI wrapper would EKOS and the
INDI Server work with this setup?

No that does not work. Windows 10 for RPi is a special version without GUI and pretty much every software for Windows including ASCOM and WINDI are compiled for x86 or amd64 and do not run on arm. You need special developed software for Win10 on RPi. ;-)

Have you tried connecting it as if it's a MoonLite or Robofocus unit? According to the website, it's compatible with the protocols of those 2.

Hi
Has anyone tried one of the SharpSky focuser`s with either the Moonlite or Robofocus INDI driver, as suggested here?
Sharpsky pro is a very nice little focuser unit. I also includes a four channel dew heater controller to the same box. It would be great to get it working with INDI.

Thanks, Graham

I think I did try but had no luck at the time.

I might give it another go, but I'm not hopeful it will work.

I am unsure exactly what was meant wrt to the capability statement now.

RoboFocus driver doesn't even connect or recognize it

The Moonlite driver did recognize it and connected, but nothing worked. Couldn't change focus, it couldn't read the temperature, etc.

I tried to contact the maker again, but with no luck.

Assuming nothing changes, I strongly suggest NOT buying this focuser - which is a shame, because it is a neat unit, bundled with the dew heater controller as well.
