DSLR imaging - D5500 frame size and NEF vs FITS

Hello,
While my ASI2600 is being repaired by ZWO I am trying to use my Nikon D5500 for imaging.

When I shoot just with the camera (no computer control) or with Ekos set to NEF (Raw) and Native, I get 6016x4016 frames.
Interestingly, Pixinsight and Affinity report 6016x4016.
APP reports 6016x4016 6000x4000.
Photoshop and ACDSee report 6000x4000.

When I switch Ekos to NEF (Raw) and FITS, Ekos starts to shoot 6000x4000.
All software report 6000x4000.
I do not like that since I have a library of Dark/Bias masters shot at 6016x4016 and most often use D5500 without Ekos.

I want to stick with 6016x4016 which means NEF (Raw) and Native.

However, in this mode the preview shown in FITS viewer is converted to 8-bit and looks overexposed while the actual (saved NEF) image is 14-bit and not overexposed.

With Ekos set to NEF (Raw) and FITS the preview is fine but the frame size is not right.

Am I doing something not right or is it just the way it is?

Thanks!

Hi.
I am also using a D5500, just reset the DSLR configs and input them manually when asked, using 6016x4016 and 3.9 on the pixel size.
I capture in fits mode and have no problems with frame dimensions.

Slight hijack… Any ideas where the driver is getting the values? I use a sony a7rii and every now and then the indi settings seem to change to some different but not entirely unreasonable values (ie not way out). I’ve also noticed the pixel bit depth is sometimes 8 and sometimes 16 and that the fits viewer shows a weird ‘mottling’ along the right hand edge of the picture. I’m using the values given by the manual but they are for a jpg format file and I’m wondering if the raw file is actually slightly different.

NMAC,
That was it - thanks much!

Looks like I set it to 6000x4000 during the initial setup and then tried to change via INDI control panel (which didn't work).
Reset DSLR and setting to 6016x4016 fixed things.
Thanks!
