Using a long zoom consumer camera as guide camera was created by Kedar Patankar

Hi,

Would it be a good idea to use a long zoom prosumer camera as guidescope/camera? I have a Panasonic FZ2500, which has almost 2" objective lens, 480mm focal at extreme tele end. Would it be a good idea to use it in full manual exposure/focusing mode as a guide camera?
