The Canon DSLR driver should support the 4000D, but I haven't tested it with that camera myself. Have you tried Canon DSLR in the camera dropdown?

You're not trying to control the camera over WiFi by chance, are you? It will only work over USB.

Also, I found that if I have my WiFi SD card (an SD card that adds WiFi capability to my camera) installed, I can't connect. I have to remove the card from the camera.

Could that be the problem?

I had connect the Cam over USB. the WIFI  on Cam is not activ.  there is only a SD card for the Pictures inside the Cam.

I'm sorry, I'm out of ideas. It works with my Canon 500D, 7D, and 7D Mk II. It's possible that you need to update your libgphoto2 library in Astroberry. libgphoto2 is the backend that INDI uses to communicate with DSLRs. Maybe your camera is newer than the version that comes with Astroberry. I don't know what version it comes with.

Maybe someone more knowledgeable than me will be able to help.

A little searching tells me that you need at least version 2.5.20 of libgphoto2 for EOS 4000D support.

Can you open a terminal and type:

dpkg -l libgphoto*

and tell me the output? On my system, I have 2.5.22
$ dpkg -l libgphoto*

You have 2.5.27, which is the latest. I'm sorry, I'm out of ideas. Hopefully someone else will be able to help.
