Onstep works with serial but not Wifi connection

Hi there,
I am running my Onstep controller (version 1.15g alpha) through a Raspberry Pi.
When I connect to /dev/ttyACM0, the alignment, slewing etc works well.
However if I connect through the Wifi, it doesn't work so well. The INDI driver can connect and talk to the mount, set the time/coordinates etc.
But, nothing happens when I click "1-Star" / Manual Align, also when I click the "North", "South", "East" and "West" buttons, an error "Error stopping N/S" or "..."E/W motion" will be produced.
Any clues as to what is happening?
Thanks!

As I understand it Onstep uses ESP8266 for Wifi module so in my experience has a weak signal/coverage prone (as its 2.4ghz) to interference. The RPI WiFi is also not brilliant especially if you are running in AP Mode.

Having said that you have used it before via WiFi (Correct ???) so I would :

1. Perhaps change the "polling" in Indi Device so it waits longer between polling - Dont think there are any "retries" settings in any Indi Driver.
2. Make sure the Raspberry PI is running at max Wifi speed (72mbs) or perhaps switch off security/encryption on the Raspberry Pi Wifi which increases through put IMHO.
3. If no luck produce some Logs for the Guys/Girls to look at :-)

Hopefully one of the experts will give you some more help :-)

Hi Stash,
Thanks for the input, the controller works well from a tablet Wifi connection so I'm not sure if it's an Indi problem or... ?
I've asked in the Onstep group, hope to find out more there :)

Not being able to connect through Wifi isn't really a big deal though, as long as the serial still works...

I remember reading somewhere that the Indi driver doesn't support Wifi connections.
In any case I would not run a mount purely over Wifi, much too high possibility of the connection dropping halfway through a sequence :)
