INDI Library v2.0.6 is Released (02 Feb 2024)

Bi-monthly release with minor bug fixes and improvements

Getting General Protection faults in all the drivers I load 1.9.1 update - libc-2.31.so

Private PPA is possible, but it's not cheap to get a good server with 4 CPUs + storage + bandwidth, and make it build for multiple Ubuntu versions. I've also considered flatpaks and snap, but both have limitations. AppImage might work, but last time I tried it a couple of years ago it also had some problems.

May be possible to get an AWS EC2 that can be spun up and down. Maybe not do nightly builds, but rather weekly builds. Apparently you can spin up and down the server to save money and use it only when you need to build.

I myself would not mind a subscription fee to help support this. I cannot speak for everyone in the group, but I know I use this program and really would like to support in any way I can.

Interestingly it also shuts down K-Stars.

Log doesn't show what caused the crash.

Proper versioning is the answer to the problem. Say, if the new version of INDI would not work with previous version of drivers, as it is usually the case, its version number should be bumped high enough to not match the drivers' dependency lists. Then, in case of Launchpad slowness, you as a user would see nothing (in Software Updater UI), or some conflict warnings (from apt CLI). At worst, it may offer you to upgrade INDI and uninstall drivers, which is still suspicious enough so that most users would cancel that.

It used to be that Launchpad would build the packages immediately, or with little delay. But unfortunately, this free service has been degrading as of late. The only way to reliably do this is by a private PPA server, but that would cost quite a bit in terms of setup and maintenance. Perhaps we can come up with a way to cover the costs for such PPA.

If funding a server is needed I'd suggest a new entry to give the issue some visibility. Assuming it goes ahead something prominent on the web page to show progress towards a goal. It does not make sense for a project like this to be struggling for the wont of a server.

I think that's what my issue is. I was using the INDINIGHTLY PPA, I need to move to Stable PPA.

Thanks.
