I operate a long focal length telescope (3.2m) with a small IMX178 based camera and a QHY Guidescope (with a QHY 5II-L) on an EQMOD mount (EQ8). Guiding and "Goto" with plate solving using the guidescope works very well. Same is true for the main scope with the IMX camera, if there are enough stars. Unfortunately, this is not the case for areas outside the milkyway. Despite my best efforts to coalign the guidescope and the main scope, there is an offset of a few arcminutes between the fov's that I can not remove with the current mechanical design. An object is not on the chip if I "Goto" via the guidescope.
Would it be possible to implement a little function to compensate for this misalignment? It could be automatically measured with three pictures at different coordinates and computing the vectors and finally the offset circle. I know, yet another feature request, but it would be really useful. Maybe the function is already there and I have discovered it ...
