scheduler does not move to next job

Hi everyone

There were 2 jobs in the scheduler, m13 and the tulip nebula with the changeover at 00:14. At the changeover of jobs, the scheduler remained at the align stage for ever and never moved to guiding. I had to restart the scheduler to make it move onto the next job. m13 was about to cross the meridian and I see a flip was planned in the log. This may have something to do with it.

Any ideas?

Cheers and clear skies,
Steve

Here is another instance where when switching jobs does not move to the next job.
The change of jobs coincides with the capture alignment check which I have set to every 6 captures

Workaround: don't set:
'Verify captured image position every' ...
To a value which will cause a check to be made to coincide with when a job is completed.

In this case, the first job has 6 captures and we had set:
'Verify captured image position every 6 frames'
So the job changeover coincided.

To move to the next job, the scheduler had to be restarted here:
[2022-06-29T23:42:02.416 CEST INFO ][ org.kde.kstars.ekos.scheduler] - Scheduler is stopping...

log esl and esq attached
TIA

I had faced a similar situation a few weeks ago and had to restart Kstars to sort it out. In my case it was showing a status of attempting a Meridian flip (and failing) when the object was nowhere close to it. I didnt capture the logs unfortunately :-(

Here is the workaround in action:

[2022-06-30T23:04:47.961 CEST INFO ][ org.kde.kstars.ekos.scheduler] - "cyg \t06/30 23:34 --> 04:02 \tjob completion"
[2022-06-30T23:04:47.962 CEST INFO ][ org.kde.kstars.ekos.scheduler] - "M 92 \t06/30 23:09 --> 23:33 \tjob completion"

So, from 23:33, the scheduler moved from the first job to the second job with; slew, align and then begins capture.
Note that this does NOT happen if:
'Verify captured image position every x frames'
coincides with the job changeover.

Cheers

How do you set "The capture alignment check which I have set to every 6 captures" -
Do you mean you are forcing realign after every 6 subs?

Try:

Settings - kstars - ekos - scheduler - Verify captured image position every x frames

If you don't want to build it yourself, the latest stable version has it too.
