This used to work perfectly fine in previous builds.

In all previous released when taking darks, the filter is never recorded. There was a request to assigned a dark filter that's automatically set whenever a dark is taken, but this is not yet implemeted.

Yes. My camera does not have a shutter. I have an ASI1600MM Pro with an 8-position filter wheel. I have 7 filters (LRGB, Ha, SII, OIII). I had an empty 8th slot, so I figured I'd put a opaque "dark" filter in there.

You should be able to produce the result you want by naming your object dark and selecting the opaque light filter.

I'm in a situation similar to Kevin's with an ASI1600MM Pro and 8-position filter wheel and, a 'dark filter' in the 8th position. As I never could figure out how to make an automated use of the dark filter I reverted to the manual way where I would explicitly set the dark filter in the filter wheel tab of the INDI window and generate darks after that.

As mentioned earlier, it would be nice if the automated dark filter selection could be implemented in EKOS but, at least, there is a 'manual' solution.

Paul seems to have a solution worth investigating though.

Is it safe to assume that users who want to use a "dark filter" do not a scope cover, right? This way, I can add dark filter as an additional option to calibration dialog.

I use a DIY dark cover (Arduino based with Alnitak command set) but it's used more as an optics protector that a true dark cover so it may let light pass through. The "dark filter" would thus be an appreciated calibration add-on. Thanks!

I do have a cover for my scope. I just like to use the dark filter as an extra layer of protection against light leaks, especially if/when I try taking darks during the daytime.

As a hack, you could probably schedule a single light photo using the dark filter before scheduling the darks. That should ensure the filter wheel is in the correct position for the darks.
