Hello,

While I done polar aligning perfectely, after an update it no longer wants to do it. There is a message about WCS.

2017-06-15T14: 25: 55 Warning: Failed to load WCS data in file: No world coordinate systems found.
2017-06-15T14: 25: 55 WCS data processing is complete.
2017-06-15T14: 25: 54 Please wait while WCS data is processed ...
(89 ° 20 '00 ") Telescope Coordinates: RA (02h 53m 03s) DEC (89 ° 20' 00")
2017-06-15T14: 25: 54 The calibration program was completed in 3 seconds.
2017-06-15T14: 25: 51 Starts the Resolution Program:
2017-06-15T14: 25: 51 Image captured.

I did not have this problem before. What is going on ?

The capture & resolution function works perfectly.

I just ran into this issue. What you have to do is to capture & solve an image (not iduring the polar align routine) then you will get a message about wcs being correct now. Then you can complete a polar align without that error message

I check in Kstars FITS setup the parameter WCS.
On the CCD I activate the WCS, filling Rotation with the value from the capture & resolution.
So the polar aligmnent runs.

I am sure before the update I have not use this settings.

One of the last updates removed the automatic WCS processing because of some issue on slower machines. I think there is some issues still with the new WCS processing as I am getting a seg fault if the AutoWCS is turned on.

So that error is not really important per se, but I just fixed it anyway. If you already run an alignment before you start Polar Alignment Assistant tool then WCS data is already valid, but if you use it straight away after you begin Ekos then there is no valid WCS data. At any rate, I now made it simply take another capture if there is no valid WCS data. Should be in the next KStars release.

Sorry, hadn't noticed there was already a Polar alignment topic.
I just discovered Kstar 2.7.8 and Ekos and must say that I have been very impressed with it. However I seem to run into problems trying to use PA procedure. First it won't clear the alignment model of my Celestron AVX mount. It gives me the error : Failed to clear Alignment Model.
When I start the PA anyway it first wants to "Clear the alignment model" which takes forever and eventually I give up. When I start the capture and solve process it doesn't seem to be able to find a solution. It keeps failing. "Solver failed after ... seconds). I have a guidescope (200mm focal length and 50mm aperture which should suffice) and an ASI 120MC. Sky was unobstructed at that time. The captured image looked fine to me but I might have a wrong idea about what is a solvable picture. All Astrometry databases and web connections are installed.
I run Mac OSX El Capitan on a MacBook Pro.
I don't have a log file yet and no clear skies forecasted in the near future. Sorry about that.
Any help is appreciated,
Kind regards,

Robert Temmerman

Hi Robert,
This issue regarding clearing polar alignment is already fixed, please wait until the next DMG is built in a few days. For failing solver, we need logs files. I take it you were using online solver? what were the options when it was uploaded? You need to turn verbose on in astrometry.net options.

Hello,
Ok, I will wait for the update. As soon as I have clear skies again i will send you a logfile. Verbose on; check.

I have the same WCS problem, but this is an error and not a warning.
Curiously the first 2 captures of the PA process work.
It is during the third capture that the error message appears.
I tried with astrometric resolution online, but the problem persists.

I have the same problem too. Error happens after third capture if "FITS limited resources" is checked. If it's unchecked Polar Alignment goes never ending loop when it's trying to capture&solve first image. I think I've tested all combinations with FITS, Solver and simulator camera WCS settings. Nothing works. Any idea what is going on?

This happens with the latest master branch and it has been like that at least 2 months. Same thing with simulator and my real equipment.
Configure KStars -> FITS -> Limited recources checked

How are you testing from master branch? You're compiling it yourself?

Yes. I'm compiling it myself.

I did some more testing. I removed compiled version and installed latest kstars-bleeding with apt-get. Polar Alignment works perfectly! Then I removed that and compiled latest master branch again. PA is still broken but everything else is working. So probably I do something wrong when I compile it. I use these instructions for compiling: indilib.org/forum/general/210-howto-buil...st-libindi-ekos.html
