I'm using Kstars 3.1.0 Welcome to KStars 3.1.0 Build: 2018-12-30T07:03:57Z30T07:03:57Z on Ubuntu 18.04 with Lin_guider 4.2.0 on remote Raspberry Pi using Mate 18.04 (indi-full 1.7.6~201812ˆ€, indi-sx 1.13~2019010 )

I noticed recently that guiding would instant crash Kstars for example when clicking 'guide' button in EKOS to start or restart guiding. I tried initialising Lin_guider by ssh commands and over VNC with similar crashes.

If I start Lin_guider (calibrate and guide start) before running Kstars all works well but as soon as I stop/restart a guide session from Ekos I get a crash.

I've been reduced logging on these runs so nothing appears in Kstars logs, just abrupt end . I will try some verbose full logging later. At this stage just reporting the change in behaviour

Anyone else having this issue?
Andrew

Thanks Jasem, and happy 2019 to you.
Delighted you found the issue without full logs, I've been trying to tweak overall speed so turned logs down.

I've picked up a couple more apparent minor bugs for Canon driver and still can't get SS2K to park but will send/start new post.

Sitting here with a SS2k PC and lots of bits / cables /GPUSB etc and having a job getting the system to talk to K stars /EKOS.

Would you mind setting out your connectivity as this is frustrating as H--l and the SS2k / Vixen SP/DX is a great little mount Ide like to start using again .

Thanking you in advance

Hi Ducan, I wish I had a step-by-step with picture guide.

The tricky part was the guider, I used LIN guider in the end, but in more recent version this became easier, do you have a guider or just want to use the SS2K ?

I think without a guider it should be plug-and-play, there is a specific SS2K driver did you find/install that?

Once you got it installed, on the observatory side server I run these commands to start the SS2K, guider, camera respectively:-
- indiserver -v indi_lx200ss2000pc indi_sx_ccd indi_canon_ccd
If you want to increase the debug output then use -vvv instead of -v

Share the output of that it might help with connectivity troubleshooting.

By did I find the specific SS2K driver ? I chose the mount form the drop- downs in the Ekos / Indi profile editor component of the system , is that what you mean or is there something else I should down load ? I have always used the internal guider , maybe I should try the Lin guider option.
