GPS from mobile phone

I have seen some videos of using the mobile phone to send gps info to Kstars/Ekos using mobile apps such as Share GPS, etc. I see the drivers for connecting to GPS show up under auxiliary equipment but I am able to make it work. The youtube video of it shows a bunch of terminal commands that I am hoping are not needed if the drivers are already in the indi library. Anyone done this successfully and able to share how its done?

Thanks

I installed GPS2IP on my iPhone and successfully use it as GPS device for Ekos.

Yes it works, and it isn't terribly difficult to setup. I used to do it myself. However it's one extra thing to do each time you setup, so ultimately a GPS dongle or installed expansion board is more convenient. If your geography doesn't change, you could get away with just an RTC for setting time time.
