Ekos crashing was created by Geoff

Updated to latest version of Kstars/ekos this morning. When I try to connect to my equipment the program interface disappears from my screen. I say disappears because if i attempt to open it again it tells me that there is another instance running. There is no trace of it anywhere. The simulator loads up perfectly and the program remains just not my equipment.
It was working perfectly well last night, nothing changed but the computer did an update this morning. I have no idea if the problem is with Indi or Kstars/Ekos.

Hello
I have the same problem since the update I made yesterday.
But I noticed that it comes from my connection with my arduino card, do you also have an arduino card?

Hi there,

I just compiled KStars from github master and ran INDI 1.8.5 with simulators. No crash, everything works fine.
To find the problem, run kstars with gdb and then type in console "bt" once it crashed, that is:
>gdb -ex=run kstars
GNU gdb (Debian 8.2.1-2+b3) 8.2.1

Thanks for your reply. The only Arduino I am using is in running the focuser. I don't think that would effect anything, but I attended to connect with the focuser not connected and it still crashed. I have uninstalled and reloaded the program without any change.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I am quite new to Linux and an just feeling my way around it. Consequently your possible solution is beyond my understanding. I don't even know what the "gdb" is. I have uninstalled and reinstalled KStars without any change. I was wondering if the nightly version may help. May give that a try.

Did you try to launch kstars by not plugging in the arduino card.

I'm talking physically by removing the usb connection.

Cause if I do that, he doesn't crash!

Yes by disconnecting the focuser hence the Arduino everything works fine. So the conflict must be there. Other than identify the area of the problem it doesn't help if I can't use the focuser.

OK so, it's like me, there's a conflict as soon as kstars starts the indi driver with an arduino connected by usb.

However, if you launch kstars and you connect the arduino there is no problem.

I think we have to wait for Jasem to find a solution.

Wonderful, that works... I redownloaded my arduino Indi driver that wasn't the problem, so your solution works. Thanks for that. Obviously the conflict is in the usb connection.

I still don't know what the issue is or how to reproduce it. Do you have a GDB backtrace for the crash?

This is a copy of my log. Hope this helps. Everything works when using simulator but the KStars and Ekos disappears nowhere to be found on my screen. However if I try to restart and connect it informs me that another instance is running. So it must be active just not visible. By connecting the focuser USB after connmecting mount cameras etc it will work. This only has occurred since the last update.
