Hi Wolfgang,

what do you think about a rain sensor to incorporate? What would be the efford ?

I already have it on my list - a RG11 would be the sensor of choice. Since it comes from US, customs for a single sensor is quite high. But if we order two or three of them, that would be a fine idea.

The effort is not that high, we simply need to write a dedicated header file with reading the sensor and translating the data into JSON. But that's straight forward with an Arduino.

Sounds good to me. Order of two is just 59 bugs. But for now mayby the cheep alternative from the raspi shop could work or not?

@sterne-jaeger for what it's worth, I do have an RG11 indi driver github.com/Trigger-broom-289/indi-RG11-Rain-Sensor if that's of any interest.
And there is also this one github.com/dokeeffe/cloud-rain-monitor with an Arduino.

In case we buy such sensors, we should take that offline from here.

hello
I have a question, how to set the right value for the sky temperature for cloud detection.
Because I notice that now that the temperature becomes wintery the detection is not precise enough anymore.

Do I have to change each time at the change of season, or is it a ratio between the temperature, for example, the temperature of the cloudless sky and x degree less than the ambient temperature?

Thank you

Hello,

there's an explanation about it in indiduino.wordpress.com/2013/02/02/meteostation/
and you can modify the code in github.com/indilib/indi-3rdparty/blob/ma.../weathercalculator.h

It's even easier, you can calibrate the sensor parameters directly through the INDI interface:
github.com/sterne-jaeger/indi-3rdparty/b...g-weather-parameters

For explanation about K1..K5, see the section "Tuning Sky Temperature Parameters" in lunatico.es/aagcw/enhelp/

For tweaking the parameters I have an Excel so that I can import CSV data from a RRD export - see attachment. With some Excel knowledge it should be possible to understand how it works. For questions, send me a PN.

Rain Sensor RG-11,

Hi Wolfgang,
What do you think, will we order such a Sensor? I send out a request to an international company, so let’s wait until I get an answer.
Can you please advise how to install Weather radio, including the web pages? I could not find it in the readme’s. Thanks
