The way I figure out the backlash setting is bring something into focus more or less.

Use Polynomial focus routine. The focuser will go out 2 times, then go in a few times. I put in a backlash value that lines up the in movement with the two out movements. This may take a few times to get the plots lined up so the backlash is close to the optimal value.

Once you have the back lash setting setup, then you can use any of the other focus methods like Linear 1 pass.

I still have not managed to implement these changes into my Astrobery installation, and I am therefore considering abandoning Astroberry. Does anyone know if Stellarmate have these changes, or will recieve them soon?

I believe Stellarmate has these drivers in it's current release.

Astroberry is a different product that is maintained at astroberry.io. I believe they have an update schedule periodically to resync with INDI, but I have no idea what that schedule is.

If you like you can install the old firmware in your Esatto and run it that way until Astroberry updates things.

Sorry, but PrimaLuceLabs changed so much between the old firmware and the new firmware it was hard to keep both compatible in one driver.

Had a go at Stellarmate. Using the Stellarmate software updater did not do the trick though, entering the correct commands into the terminal I finally did manage to get the new drivers and my Sesto Senso 2 seemed to work perfectly. However, in the process something else broke and my imaging camera(ZWO ASI533MC) and guide camera(SVBONY SV305M Pro) stopped working as their drivers instantly crashed upon starting the INDI server in Ekos.

But... The worst part is how horribly slow Stellarmate was to use over VNC compared to using Astroberry over VNC, which is incredibly snappy whereas Stellarmate is more like watching a laggy and non-responsive slideshow.

So, if I could get my Astroberry installation up to snuff, that would be great.

Yeah, I might have to go for downgrading the firmware in my device. Although I would also like to be able to also use my small Windows PC for controlling my gear, and there ASCOM requires the latest firmware on the Sesto Senso 2.

All of this fiddling with different software, drivers and firmware to even get things to work is so incredibly frustrating.

Hello Simon,

StellarMate does not use a commercial VNC server (requires licensing), just X11VNC. I found if you use RealVNC, it's pretty snappy and faster than using webVNC. Until release of next stable INDI/KStars in a couple of weeks, you can try the Beta channel

Another thing that may help with Stellarmate responsiveness is making sure you are on 5GHz Wi-Fi. For some reason I can’t make it stick and so have to manually set Wi-Fi country to US and then switch to 5 GHz manually each time I boot up. Doing so gets better network throughout, at least for my setup where I am close and have no walls to go through.

I will try out using RealVNC instead. I have been unsuccesful in setting my Stellarmate installation to BETA, nothing happens and it does not seem do switch when I press the button.

Thanks for the input, but I have not had any issues with wifi like that. In fact, I am not using wifi at all, instead going the ethernet cable route.
