Initialization of Sesto Senso

Dear star-friends,

after installing a Primalucelab Sesto Senso focuser motor I wasn't able to use it with INDI/Ekos until I connected it with my Windows laptop and initialized the focuser with the Primalucelab program.
After initialization and storing the endpoints of focuser travel on Win10 I could use the Sesto Senso with INDI.

Can the very first initialization and endpoint storage of a brand new focuser be performed under Linux/StellarMate/Ekos as well?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the report. I contacted Primalucelab for information on the command required to do the init step.

Hi Chris,

I just bought a Sento Senso focuser. I want to use it under ubuntu/ekos/kstars. Ik can connect to my focuser thru ekos but i am not able to use it because it is not moving.
Do i need to intitialize it thru windows first with the software provided with the Sent Senso?

Regards,

I received the updated command list from Prima however, it's still on my TODO list.

How can i at this moment use my Sento senso with ubuntu/ekos/kstars?
Even after initializing thru windows it doesn't work with ubuntu/ekos.
It can connect but the motor is not reacting.

Hi Joshua,

yes, sometimes it‘s strange...
At the moment I‘d advise all users to first initialize the SestoSenso with the utility provided by PrimaluceLab on a Windows machine and afterwards using the serial mapper (if used on a RPi) assigning it to dev/focuser.

The RPi (used as a StellarMate gadget in my case) seems to be extremely sensitive to the way and the sequence of connecting peripherals, so sometimes reconnecting something after confirming the right port works great.

Once it is connected it works like a charm.

Jasem,
I'd really like to be of help concerning the SestoSenso, but alas I've no programming experience for the last 20 years...

So if you think that someone lacking skill can support the project anyways - be free to get in contact ;)

Does anybody know if it is possible to do a factory reset on the focuser to test the first run initialization sequence?

Dear RoMe,
unfortunately I don't know, but I suppose that the first time initialization should work if we are able to successfully set the limits later on.

I'm planning to get another SestoSenso for my RC telescope, since I really love the clean and compact design (and really like the motors to be fixed with the telescope), so I supposedly am able to test the first time initialization as well in the time to come.
