How can i at this moment use my Sento senso with ubuntu/ekos/kstars?
Even after initializing thru windows it doesn't work with ubuntu/ekos.
It can connect but the motor is not reacting.

Hi Joshua,

yes, sometimes it‘s strange...
At the moment I‘d advise all users to first initialize the SestoSenso with the utility provided by PrimaluceLab on a Windows machine and afterwards using the serial mapper (if used on a RPi) assigning it to dev/focuser.

The RPi (used as a StellarMate gadget in my case) seems to be extremely sensitive to the way and the sequence of connecting peripherals, so sometimes reconnecting something after confirming the right port works great.

Once it is connected it works like a charm.

Jasem,
I'd really like to be of help concerning the SestoSenso, but alas I've no programming experience for the last 20 years...

So if you think that someone lacking skill can support the project anyways - be free to get in contact ;)

Thanks! I just added now the commands for setting minimum & maximum position. Please test and report back.

Does anybody know if it is possible to do a factory reset on the focuser to test the first run initialization sequence?

Dear RoMe,
unfortunately I don't know, but I suppose that the first time initialization should work if we are able to successfully set the limits later on.

I'm planning to get another SestoSenso for my RC telescope, since I really love the clean and compact design (and really like the motors to be fixed with the telescope), so I supposedly am able to test the first time initialization as well in the time to come.

When i try to focus and i let the motor run from step 40000 to 20000 i can see that it is reasonably in focus when passing around step 25000.
When i again go from 20000 to 25000 it is no longer in focus. i can say just total out of focus.

What can be the reason of this behaviour?

@Astrosnoesky

If you have the chance try your exact setup with the Primaluce Windows tool (you can do it at daytime - just focus on a belltower or anything similar reasonably far away) if the focus point is fix regardless of the focussing motion than it's perhaps an INDI related problem - if the problem persists, read on ;)

I'd suppose it is a mechanical problem.
First of all it seems to be some kind of backlash problem to me. Get sure, that you have a tight mechanical connection of the shafts of your SestoSenso and the focuser.
On the other hand don't overtighten the fixation of the Sesto housing at the outer barrel of your focuser.
Get the friction right and reassure, that no fixation-screw is accidentally tightened.

I hope you'll get it working soon...

Cheers Chris
