I have a question. Why is this most excellent driver not part of the indilib on GitHub? Not even 3rd party?

I ask this for purely selfish reasons. Whenever I reconfigure my collection of Pi devices, I end up doing a git/compile for some of the things I need. This is especially true now that I am running Pi4 rather than Pi3 devices. While it is convenient enough to go to your site on github and do the same, it would save a step or three if it was associated in with the indi stuff. Also, perhaps that would make it unnecessary to create an "off-label" device during the Ekos setup. Sometimes that routine in Ekos can be a bit tedious.

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I've been away from astrophotography for the last few months. Nothing but clouds here in northern Michigan during the winter.

I wanted to fully develop and get testers for the driver before trying to get it merged into INDI. Now that it's mostly feature complete, and reasonably well tested, I guess now is the time for getting it merged into 3rd party INDI. I'll see if I can get to that sometime over the next week or two.

Clear skies!

Thank you. That will simplify updates nicely.
Have you had a chance to develop the abort feature?

Let me just say that I have used indi_wmh_focuser for a very long time now with no issues whatsoever. Thank you for your work and for rescuing me from the land of Arduino.

How can I modify the code to use different step modes such as Single, Double, Microstep 8? And how it relates to the hardware mode switches vs mode selection via software.

Is this a new problem, or is this the first time using this driver?

The Waveshare driver doesn't do anything regarding taking images, all it does is move the focuser in and out when told to do so by Ekos, so those exposure failure errors are not the fault of the Waveshare driver, but rather the CCD driver.

Can you hit the Up and Down arrows next to where it says "Waveshare Motor HAT Focuser"? That will cause the focuser to move in or out. If hitting those buttons causes the focuser to move, then the focuser driver is working normally.

It is the first time, the simulator works it was my mistake, I forgot to connect the mount.
I have mounted this motor but nothing is spinning, do you need to configure something?
Sorry but I'm new to Raspberry
