kstars died last night was created by Paul

In the morning I found phd2 running but not kstars.
The last part of the log is attached but it seems to have decided to remove the CCD, any ideas?

It looks like INDI Server crashed for some reason. Are you running a remote INDI-SERVER?

I don't think that the INDI server crashed because when I restarted kstars and reconnected it asked if I wanted to restart INDI because an instance was still running. It appears to be a kstars crash only.
All this is running on a Raspberry Pi 4 locally.

Unfortunately, kstars is prone to crashes. It is much better now than it used to be, but still, it happens once in a while.
You can try CCDCiel.
In my experience, it is more stable than Kstars and is very similar in terms of features.

Alex,

I think it is fair to say that kstars does not frequently abort when running the stable version, which I am not running.

One of the risks with running the overnight version is that stability may be compromised.

This is why I report these issues if they occur; to assist with fixing them.

I find that the stable version (3.5.4 stable) crashes at random maybe once or twice a week on ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS (amd64).

I gave up using the FITS viewer and this helped a little. The crashes don't seem to be consistent or related to any particular action (not associated with meridian flip, or focusing, or losing guide stars, or slewing, or plate solving, for example). Just BAM, no more kstars. The mount continues to track but nobody's home. Wake up in the morning, park the mount, and hope for another clear night sometime soonish.

I'm taking a few months off of imaging and hope things are more stable in 2022.
