I can prepare a package with 3rd , 4th, and 5th levels included. The only issue is hosting it on CDN. We can't make it available on INDI website, that would be too much bandwidth. Maybe we can put it up on KDE though, but I'm open to suggestions.
3rd level at wide FOV zoom level can be a bit sluggish, So, I recommend including Level 2. Level 4 can just be omitted if it is smart enough to seamlessly go from 3 to 5, which from my tests appears to be the case. 3 is good enough to see most of what's in an area. and 5 is good for detail and framing. 4 is just superfluous IMHO, but some may want it, so perhaps create separate archives people can choose from to download.
I just (2 hours ago) updated my SM 1.7.0 64bit (RST-136, two ZWO cameras, EAF) to 1.7.1 64bit.
All seems to be working and
usr/share/kstars/hips directory is already populated with Norder3 and Norder5 folders/images.
Just reporting.

ZWO EAF x 2.
So I just installed the Norder3 and Norder5 files from Euripides' link (Thanks!).
Is the other data also easily accessible somewhere? (For those that don't mind the data usage)? Also, some switch might be nice to tell KStars to only use the installed files. At least I do see some net use when zooming in and out, and ~/.cache/kstars/hips fills (or is it caching locally installed files, too?)
Hummm... norder5 is to wide for my framing intents. I will need 6 or 7, but I can't find any instructions about how to download those datasets. Are there any available info, scripts?
Totally agree with you Rafa, I've just mentioned that cause I was sure that I saw it written somewhere
And I just found it, on the Stellarmate's FB page:
Did you know that DSS Offline HiPS is already included with #StellarMate? Levels 3 and 5 are included by default. To enable to go to HiPS settings and set the DSS Offline Source to /usr/share/kstars/HIPS and you're set!
