Kstars binaries on MacBook too

Kstars crashes at launch on my MacBook Air (M1, 2020). This is true for all 3 binaries available through indilib.org

I must be doing something fundamentally wrong.

Launching Kstars by itself? (No INDI) causes a crash?
I don't have a fancy new M1, but the MacOS binaries work on my MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports) running OSX 12.5 (21G72) with no problem.

Perhaps my college bound kid, who just got an M1 last week, will let me try on that machine?

Hi, I just tried. binary-factory.kde.org/job/KStars_Release_macos/ and it launches and runs the simulators OK for me on my M1 MacStudio.

I did give KStars full disk access, but I'm not sure that was a pre-requisite.

Thanks for responses.

It may be worth noting that the Mac Studio uses the newer M1 Max or the M1 Ultra. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_Studio

Also in identifying possible differences, this MacStudio has 64 G RAM.

KStars 3.6.0 will NOT run on my 2012 era Mac Mini (16GB RAM,2.3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7). It starts up and you get the splash screen and then it dies a horrible death.
I've downloaded direct from edu.kde.org and installed it (and removed it and re-installed it, rinse and repeat about 8 times).

I've given up for now trying to get it to work on my Mac and will probably simply use the Surface Book instead. Just like the bigger monitor on my Mac Mini. ;)

Hey guys,

Unfortunately, the 3.6.0 release was being done just before I left on vacation, so I was unable to build it and we had to use the craft version since there was an issue with my script before I left. When I came back I looked into a couple of issues and I think this issue was because the craft version is now being built with MacDeploymentTarget = 10.15. The reason they give in the comment is "As projects start to require c++17 we are now requiring 10.15" as shown here:

invent.kde.org/packaging/craft/-/blob/ma...ettings.ini.template

My script is still set to build to build with MacDeploymentTarget = 10.13 as shown here:

github.com/rlancaste/kstars-on-osx-craft...gs/CraftSettings.ini

I also managed to fix my build script as well, so I rebuilt the dmg today and uploaded it. Please check to see that it works on 10.13 and 10.14 again. If not, then I should probably clean out my build directory and build again, but hopefully the issue is resolved.

Thanks for testing in advance!
