Hello Jean,

I took a look at your crash report you posted and it says you are running 12.5.1. If that is the case, the change I made would not affect it, as I stated the issue I was addressing was that the kde binary server was not building for older versions of MacOS. This must be a different issue. Can you say more about what you did that led to a crash, more detail about your system, or any more details about what happened? Had you run previous versions of KStars and do they still work? I would suspect that maybe something might have gotten corrupted in your data directories and that should be easy enough to test and fix.

Thanks,

Rob

Hello,
Thank you for your answer.
I installed it for the first time.
I never installed olds versions.
It crashes during start time.
I never did the app interface.

I willl try to make a screen picture but the crash is fast.
Juste n’oublie click the app icon, the app start and crash.

What data could be corrupt?
Anything I could try?

Have a good day.

Ok yes if you haven’t installed it before, then that probably isn’t the problem. Just trying to narrow down the cause.

Can you try running it from the MacOS Terminal and see what prints out?

Launching Kstars 3.6.0 (from Finder) then launching INDI server plus EKOS, from within Kstars, allows use of Cmd-F, and/or Pointing>Find Object... without a crash.

When you quit EKOS, Cmd-F and Pointing>Find Object... still works.

Quit INDI server, then use Cmd-F or Pointing>Find Object...: crash!

Yes, I found that a file in the data directory called asteroids.dat got changed a few months ago but was still working in 3.5.9. But then a change was made in kstars to support another change in that file by a developer between 3.5.9 and 3.6.0, but asteroids.dat was not updated again. But strangely enough, the older version of the file still works with this new change but the newer version does not. Sorry it is a little confusing. But yesterday I did inform the person of the issue and he is working on a solution.

So as a quick fix, could I copy asteroids.dat from the 3.5.9 build and put it into the 3.6.0 directory structure?

Or, how about deleting asteroids.dat altogether?

Thanks, Rob, for all your work!
