"Horizon Art" was created by Toni Schriber

After the update to Kstars 3.6.0 stable Build: 2022-08-24T12:47:35Z the planetarium produces "horizon art"! :S
If I activate the whole horizon Kstars is so sluggish I can't work anymore.

Toni

I recently made some fixes to that. Can you try the nightly code and see if it's faster/better?

OMFG that's *waaaaaaaayyyyyyyy* faster, even over VNC. My horizon didn't look weird but it was pretty slow to render before (not that I ever used the planetarium). There is now much less lag when navigating.

Normally I stay with "stable" on my production PC. (I had a lot of problems with "nightly" in the past!)

At the moment I'm working with a self compiled current GIT beta version, which is working well on all my PC's.
@Hy The mentioned fix should be commited in "upstream", shouldn't it?

BTW: KStars 3.6.0 stable Build: 20220828 continues to draw "art" on my Ubuntu20.04-MacBook.

Toni,
"upstream" depends on how you have your git configured, type "git remote -v" and you'll see.
For instance, for my development setup, I select my fork as "origin" and the main kstars repo as "upstream"
You want the one that corresponds to invent.kde.org/education/kstars.

Note, Jasem just put a big new change in there, so this might not be the most stable time for the beta code.
See invent.kde.org/education/kstars/-/commits/master
Jasem's change is the one that says "Add support for DSLR lenses..."
so if you don't want to test that out, but do want to use previous stuff, pick a commit before that.
