Ok, seem to be getting somewhere but now when ever i run the server and command to start it i just reams off endless lines of attempts at trying to get the drivers started but never reaches a conclusion.
I'm unable to get a screen grab but it keeps using restart attempt in the lines and reaming through various pins, should I have just left this run as it was doing it for a good 10 minutes to no effect.

Does the device have to be attached first before you run the driver for the first time, could this be why it seems to be searching and not resolving the driver. The drivers seem to be all installed with the download

driver_executable is just an example informing you to put the actual driver executable here! After you installed the dependencies above, you need to download the INDI Library for PI .tar.gz archive, extract it, and then install it as described in great detail in the tutorial

You can tell the driver executable if you visit the Devices page, for each device, it will mention the executable name of the driver. What devices are you trying to control?

Thanks for replying, I had been trying to install the dependencies but they never seemed to configure then last night i read about logging in as Root or superuser and I think all seems to be working, all the drivers seemed to set up, just need to test it out.
I'm new to Linux and Pi and the Indi project looks to be just what I'm looking for so this is a massive learning curve.
Thanks again

E: Package 'libtiff4' has no installation candidate

soi cannot install this, yet i know that libtiff4 has been "installed" by the "Selecting previously unselected package libtiff4-dev:amd64.

any help greatly appreciated!

using aptitude i get the following:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
libqsi6 : Depends: libtiff4 which is a virtual package.
The following actions will resolve these dependencies:

Keep the following packages at their current version:
1) indi-full [Not Installed]
2) indi-qsi [Not Installed]
3) kstars-bleeding [Not Installed]
4) libqsi6 [Not Installed]

Accept this solution? [
how do i install these packages from this position?

Hi, I'm trying to get Kstars and Ekos to connect to the Pi, I've entered my ip address in the host if that's correct and the port which its connected to via my router but I keep getting this message:
Connection to INDI host at 192.168.0.15 on port 22 lost. Server disconnected.
Not sure if this means that the driveras aren't set up or its my host details that are at fault.
thanks for any info.

Why port 22? This is normally ssh, indi uses port 7624. Works fine here.

Hi,
I thought that the settings I was using in Putty,ie. ISP and port number were what was needed but I later used port 7624. I'm still having issues with it as often fails to connect to server and when it does the part "4" of the configuration panel isn't active after I start Indi, the Indi control panel will come up showing the drivers for the gear but can't find the dslr, in Gphoto options I load configuration which green lights but still no joy with the camera, it asks if the power is ok.
This hasn't been an easy process but when I see progress it's worth it.
Thanks for any advice

Not sure if this helps but I solved similar issues by logging in as superuser with
sudo su
Then running my install, it seemed to work

have progressed beyond this as kstars seems to be working via diffferent method - now to find correct usb ports to specify etx and spc devices
