Camera GUI client recommendation for non-astronomy use?

If I just want to use a camera through indi and nothing else, what is a simple GUI to use for that? Right now I'm looking at Ekos since it appears to be the best supported, but it is very complicated for my application.

Platform: Ubuntu 16.04 x64, although I'm somewhat flexible

Background: I'm using an Alta U2 CCD for microscopy. I've used libapogee-3.0.3234 a little bit in the past with SimpleExposure.cpp. However, it seems that when libapogee was migrated from randomfactory, the examples were removed and are no longer 100% compatible. I might look at resurrecting these, but seems like interfacing to indi rather than the library directly might be better supported.
