Hello
This refers to topic:
indilib.org/forum/ccds-dslrs/4785-qhy9-s...sn-t-open.html#36348

I have been in touch with QHY. they have suggested (after remote connection to my RPI) that the issue is with the indi server version and that I should download the latest from GitHub and compile it .

Can someone tell me how I can check the version I have installed? And do I need to uninstall the previous version before installing the new one?
Also , where on GitHub can I find the latest version for RPI?

I assume I can't just sudo apt this entire operation.

Thank you!

Are you on Ubuntu? If yes, check the download page here: www.indilib.org/download/ubuntu.html

There are instructions for using the nightly version as well.

Hi
I did a fresh installation of Kstars and indi over a fresh installation of Ubuntu 18.04 on my Rasp Pi B+. I assume I have the latest indiserver, but how can I check that? of course my qhy9 still doesn't work.

I read on the INDI facts that I can connect a client directly to the driver without using the server. For example Ekos straight to the qhy driver. How could I do that? I would like to run some tests.

Thank you.

Ok but how do I connect client (Ekos) to driver directly as per INDI documentation?

I have tried as you suggested - no luck.
However, this is where it gets interesting:
So normally the camera shutter doesnt open, and the cooling doesn't work. Not even the fan starts.
So I connected the QHY9 in the Windows PC and started everything there, and then disconnected the camera and plugged it in my Raspberry. SO the fan was still on (although I left cooling off). And then suddenly in EKos, the shutter started working!
Cooling still didn't work but the camera took pictures and shutter worked.

So I'm thinking there is some problem either in indiserver or elsewhere that doesn't manage to initialize the camera. It detects it, can download images with the shutter closed, but cannot start the other processes.

You have just made me get interested in this camera again. My local club has an old, old QHY9 camera with filter wheel and I gave up on it because QHY claim they don’t support this camera on Linux/Mac because it is too old. But perhaps we can persuade them to make it work after this insight after all??? Maybe #fingercrossed
