updates / nightly builds? but...

I did a nightly build update to get some of the latest tweaks on my PI. (smate) I did a kstars-bleeding update and all seemed to go well.

HOWEVER - I'm using the PI as a server and I'm running Kstars/Ekos on a windows machine in the house. ???????????

First (they will mesh and be compatible?) and more important. Is it possible to update windows install? Or must we wait for an official windows release?

LASTLY how do I "remove" the nightly build repo? I went into the directory and found the file but (I can't delete it) how do I DECLARE myself as OWNER
of ALL my computers files? There is nothing more frustrating than being told NO on my own machine.

First of all they don’t need to mesh, as you don’t use at the same time, in fact if you use the PI as a server, then Kstars / Ekos does not get used on that, so no worries there.

Secondly no, you can’t just update the windows version, you have to re install the lot, but it will do it over the top so all settings will still be there.. :)

Ron,
To change from nightly to stable, back and forth this might help.

I was wondering about this too. Do I (on my windows system) first uninstall Kstars and then install the latest download (and will my gear/settings then be kept) or do I install it "on top of" the current Kstars?

Install "on top of" the current KStars. If you purge the nightly build repository then apt will automagically revert to the stable build without the need for you to uninstall anything.

Sorry, I have no idea about Windows. I was talking about Linux. I only now see that you were referring to Windows. Sorry once more.

so to try and clarify. If my server is linux pi. And I do a nightly on it? (I get the latest driver updates?)
Then the windows install will use the updated drivers?

And updates to kstars/ekos for windows are (slower). Looking. I have 3.2.0 I see the latest is 3.1.1

WHICH IS NEWER!? I would assume 3.2.0 but KDE site says 3.1.1 is latest release?

3.1.1 is the latest stable release and this one is mentioned on the website. 3.2.0 is the nightly.

To answer my own question: On Windows, if you uninstall Kstars, then download and install (the latest) Kstars all the equipment, settings and what not, is preserved.
