I'm trying to do 1.0.0 version. My arch is x86_64 (Intel i7).

Any chance you can do similar ebuild magic for astrometry and kstars? :)

I tried to install libqsi, works as expected. Can you post output of equery files dev-embedded/libftdi and emerge --info dev-emebbeded/libftdi ?

Kstars can be installed normaly from the main gentoo tree, latest version is in kde overlay, but it is currently masked though. gpo.zugaina.org/kde-apps/kstars

Astrometry is in science overlay gpo.zugaina.org/sci-astronomy/astrometry. Just do layman -L && layman -a science && emerge astrometry and you are ready to go! :-)

dev-embedded/libftdi-1.0::gentoo was built with the following:
USE="cxx python -doc -examples -static-libs -tools" ABI_X86="64"

I've been building from the git repo. If I unmask this, is that what it will build from? EDIT: Looks like it.

Nice. I think I built this from source, so I'll switch to that too.

EDIT: Only 0.43, the latest is 0.50 and I seem to recall I needed a recent version to fix a problem.

I can try to create sci-astronomy/astrometry-9999 ebuild. However I dont have that much spare time, so I would rather try to avoid maintainig ebuilds for separate releases of it.

In the end I have created =sci-astronomy/astrometry-0.52. We will see how this will fare. I can see that astrometry does have long release cycles, so I think I can try to maintain ebuilds for it.

For the problem with libqsi, try to install dev-embedded/libftdi lesser than 1.0 and reemerge libqsi. I will have adjusted dependency in the ebuild once I return home from work ;-)

So do layman -S and give it a try.

So far I've done the libftdi downgrade (to 0.20). The qsi packages now compile and install.

Will try the astrometry build now.

astrometry-0.52 also installed, but I have yet to configure and test. However, thank you again for this, it's made setting up a Gentoo box very easy! :)

If I'm understanding correctly, the default data dir for your astrometry install is /usr/data, and the astrometry.cfg is in /usr/etc. Maybe it would be better to make both the data and etc dir go under /usr/share/astrometry?

You are right. But these paths are coded somewhere into the build scripts provided by astrometry itself. But I will look into this in the futurue and try to come up with workaround.

EDIT: The future is now! I have updated ebuild and now everything is installed in the right directories. I am thinking about creating ebuilds for index files too, now.

It's been a while and I'm not sure if you still monitor this thread.

I tried to install the libqhy package that's a prerequisite for the indi driver for qhy. I got this error:

* apply patches -->
* ERROR: sci-libs/libqhy-9999::brancik-overlay failed (prepare phase):
* subversion: /var/lib/layman/brancik-overlay/sci-libs/libqhy/files/libqhy-1.0.0_fix_cmake_symlink.patch not found

There's a similar file there, so I tried to copy the file to the expected name. When I did that, it was not happy with the patch at all:
* Failed Patch: libqhy-1.0.0_fix_cmake_symlink.patch !
* ( /var/lib/layman/brancik-overlay/sci-libs/libqhy/files/libqhy-1.0.0_fix_cmake_symlink.patch )

Removing the file doesn't help, of course. :)

Any ideas?

Well, it took me nearly 6 months to get back to this (work, life, etc), so I suspect I can wait a bit longer. :)

Note that I was using the -9999 version - I want to get the latest bleeding edge stuff to test.

Looks like the tar files for 1.0.0 are no longer available on sourceforge, and this is causing breakage with the indilib ebuilds in the overlay.

Is there a plan to update the overlay with 1.1.0 ?? (it was just released beginning of Sept)

I have finally updated overlay. I have tested only v1.1.0 ebuild which should build fine. Please test and report bugs :-)
