I'm back at my observatory, and installed the Atik 314, as in:
  • opened the obs
    fitted the camera
    plugged in the powered lead
    plugged the USB cable
    closed the obs
updated Kstars to 3.4.0 on my laptop
apt-update/upgrade/dist-upgrade (used the fix for indi-mi package) on the Odroid C1

I've taken a series of test images, at different exposure lengths, and it works. I'm not sure if the guys at Atik have fixed something without telling me, or else, but it is working at the present time.
Now I need a clear night before this coming Thursday...

This is unreal !!!!
Tonight is the only clear night forecasted, so I took the occasion to align the mount...

Holy crap this camera is testing my patience...
IT'S BROKEN AGAIN...

Up to tonight:
it was working plugged in straight to the laptop
it was working plugged in into the observatory

Tonight (clear night)
I get this, on both system, as in laptop direct connection and observatory

I am lost, seriously lost.... and as I use an OAG, you cannot focus the guide camera until your main camera is on focus...

I'm not sue what we can do to help.

The middle image, with the vertical stripes and stars in the brighter ones, seems to indicate that the problem is the connection between the controller and the CCD, IMO probably the reading of the data from the CCD rather than the control signals used to clock the data out. That could be the white ribbon cable, the preamplifier or the ADC chip on the board.

I'm going to take the camera back with me, and get Atik to change the board. The cost of it isn't that high, I cannot remember exactly how much but it's affordable.

Looks like that camera is a lemon.

Is it still under warranty? They should really send you a new one.

It's no longer under warranty, but that's not a problem. I'll get a new board :woohoo:

The middle image (Light_070.fits, vertical stripes) makes me think that there could be some interference from either a faulty or leaky part of equipment (switching power supply or PWM dew heaters maybe) into the camera signal. From the ATIK 314L camera specs and what I can see, "Horizontal drive frequency: 28.64 MHz", "Total number of pixels: 1434 (H)..." and 5 cycles of 'interference' horizontally, the interference pattern would have a frequency of roughly 100KHz. If you know of or can find the source of such signal that may lead you to a solution (replace/repair faulty part).

As far as the blank images (Light_075.fits), I can't help much as they don't fit in my interference hypothesis.

Hope any of this helps.

Have you tried testing the camera by adding one thing at a time from your kit? You said it worked with the laptop and observatory computer. What happens when the mount is connected, does tracking influence it? Does it conflict only with the guide camera connected? Powered hubs? Dome control system? Any one of these could come down to power load, power noise, or driver issues. Can you power the camera from an independent power source?

Oops! From the info below the Lights_070,fits image, I understand that the image is zoomed-in. My estimate of the interference frequency will be off then. If only 46% is seen that means that the interference would be closer to 200KHz. I would be surprised that dew heaters and switching power supplies go that high.
