astrometry on an image without connecting a setup

I would like to be able to do an astrometry on an existing image without having to connect a camera. The goal is to identify the objects (stars, clusters and so on) presents on the image to be able to do a search on the atlas and do a better frame around the object to capture.
This would be very useful, for example, to frame more easily a nebula for which we don't have name using the stars around that are named.
Astrometry may brings up more "textual" and usefull information.
Maybe it is yet possible but didn't found anything about it.

Only thing that comes to my mind is using the solve-field command line arguments.

See: astrometry.net/doc/readme.html#solving & manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/xenial/man1/solve-field.1.html

Isn't there a web interface to Astrometry.net? Use that to upload the image. AIUI you get what you asked for.
