[Solved] KStars - Where are the Satellites at times?

I selected all available Satellites in Preferences -> Satellites.
As soon as I select "Only show visible Satellites" there is not a singe satellite on the screen.

I've downloaded the PC Version of KStars 3.5.2 and let it run in Crossover and there is the same behavior.
What I am doing wrong?

De-select "Only visible..."

Select "Only visible..."

My KStars doesn't show satellites with any settings (Windows , KS 3.5.2 Stable).
Never cared about them - this was the first try.

Oh... sorry. my bad.
I actually needed to select some satellites.
Once I checked the "only visible" option - it worked properly.

Yes. After a couple of toggles of "only visible" option it stopped working but started to work again after KS restart.

Thank you for testing.
Can you please change your location to Frankfurt, Germany?

It seems a location based bug. As soon as I change my location to America all satellites are drawn.
Nothing to see here in Europe.

I've tested this with Mac and Windows via Crossover.

Yes. No satellites over Frankfurt. Or Moscow. Or Warsaw. Or Tokyo.

I submitted a bug report at KDE-Bugtracker.

SUMMARY
Seems to be a location and time based bug

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Preferences -> Satellites -> Show Satellites -> Show only visible satellites -> OK
2. Choose a location, e.g. Frankfurt, Germany
3. Pause clock
4. Set time step to 1 hour
5. Advance steps in hour.

OBSERVED RESULT
If there where satellites drawn, they will disappear at some point.
After a few steps more they come back.

EXPECTED RESULT
Satellites shouldn't disappear-

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
macOS: 11.2.3

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Also tested in Windows via Crossover

Oh my! It’s not a bug, it’s a feature.
Playing around with the options, time and location and found out that the satellites disappear on daylight and return when it’s dark.

This is confusing because someone (like me) could think „Only visible“ means magnitude reachable with naked eye or something like that.

Well, case closed!
