iOptron GEM28 mount unable to move after some period of time

Hello,
I have a problem with my brand new iOptron GEM28 mount - when I'm running a photographing session, after some time (around 10-15 minutes) my mount refuses to move in RA. Dec axis works just fine (using either the INDI mount driver or the hand controller), but RA won't work even when I disconnect the mount from the computer - I need to manually reset mount's power. I'm running the following versions of KStars and INDI libraries on my Raspberry Pi 4 running Ubuntu Mate 20.04 LTS (I installed them from the beta PPA):

I'm not sure how would the mount work on the latest stable KStars/INDI, I can't test it because my camera, Altair Hypercam 183M Pro, refuses to work on these versions. I'm also attaching screenshots from PHD2 showing the moment when my mount refused to move in RA (please ignore the bad guiding performance, it was due to my very inaccurate polar alignment - the clear gap between the clouds was very short and I wanted to test Ekos with my new mount quickly). Also, please tell me if I need to attach some other pieces of information (eg. some logs) and how to collect them, if necessary.

Best regards,
Pawel

Hello Pawel,

Welcome to INDI forums! I'd start by checking the power (both to the mount and rpi4).

I'm sure the power to the Pi is always uninterrupted, but the mount's power supply acts weird sometimes, I'll investigate it further (though I'm rather sure that the power to the mount didn't go out, I was actively monitoring everything). I tried to replicate this issue today by using a camera and guide cam simulators (both internal and PHD2) and I couldn't encounter this issue. The only change was that I wasn't even touching my hand controller; it it possible that using a hand controller and Ekos at the same time could cause the mount to behave weirdly like I described in the first post?

I tested this mount again on today's clear night, and I didn't encounter the issue! It seems that I shouldn't use my hand controller (I think I had problems because of the parking/zeroing feature, but now I'm not going to use the HC at all anyways) if Ekos is communicating with the mount at the same time

This last sentence confuses me. I was thinking that the GEM28 will need the HC always connected to be used with INDI driver. But from your last message it seems that is not needed?. Please, could you clarify the situation?. Thanks a lot!
