Hi,
Trying to connect my skywatcher EQ35 pro to Ekos on my IMac.
I have downloaded prolific 2303 driver.
Set sync scan handset to Pc direct mode
Connected USB to handset and PC.
Set mount in ekos to EQMod Mount
When I click start I get INDI driver has crashed and the stars shuts down.
If you are going through the handset and using a simple serial->USB converter cable, you need to set the mount up as a SYNSCAN instead of EQMod.
The only time you use EQMod is when you totally bypass the handset with a cable that goes direct from the computer in actual box that the handset attaches to normally.
Also, with my EQ-35 Pro (rebadged by William Optics) I never, when using the serial->USB method put the handset into PC-Direct mode.
Tracy, Thank you for your help, I now have the mount connected to the laptop.
My next question is, I am not getting any information back into EKOS regarding the mount position etc.
when I click on the mount tab in EKOs all the fields are blank and the control mount does not work.
I can get it to slew to targets through the star map.
I also have an EQMOD cable which came with the mount, would this work if I connected it directly into the hand control port?
sorry if these are daft questions, very new to all of this and trying to stumble through.
Looks like you haven't defined any optical trains yet?
If you have an EQMod cable that is supported, then you should be able to connect directly from the PC into the "control" box that the hand controller normally attaches to. You then will choose EQMod as the driver. You may have to experiment with the port speeds. My EQ-35 Pro and it's cable needs 9600, but the EQ6-R Pro needs it set to 115200.
Very glad to have been of some assistance to someone.... I am a RANK neophyte in this field... albeit I'm slowly getting better certain aspects. Stellarmate (KStars/EKOS) doesn't quite always work the way that I would (as a neophyte) expect (been actively involved for about 3 months)... but as time goes on, I still learn more.
