I developed a new driver for celestron that is compatible with INDI logging among other stuff. For the moment, the driver does NOT work and is under testing. So if you are using celestron, do not update to the bleeding edge INDI.
I just upgraded my Ubuntu Mate 14.04, which by default installed the latest indi_celestron_gps driver.
Apparently this new driver fails to read the RA/DEC values. (see attached log file)
Tried the new driver. It appears that there is a problem decoding the RA/DEC values properly.
The attached log-file shows what happens when slewing from Park position to Polaris. (The scope ends up pointing way off target)
Please enable logging before you connect, the log file shows the events 600 seconds after the driver started. I need to see everything from the start. What is your parking position in RA/DEC ?
I have attached a new log-file.
1) Mount was initially pointing to Polaris (before making Connect)
2) Slewed to Alpha Persei
3) Slewed to Beta Pegasi
4) Slewed back to Polaris
5) Disconnected
The mount never pointed to selected target. Always way off.
UTC offset was set to -7 (Arizona). (it appears the log-file believes it is set to 0)
The log-file seems to believe that all objects are below horizon, including Polaris.
Well, the mount's reply for time is definitely incorrect. What is your exact mount model? I fixed one issue and added more debug information. Unfortunately, I don't have a Celestron mount to test, so you'd have to suffer a bit until we get this resolved! So all your testing and help is highly appreciated. Please give it one more try tomorrow after the new update.
I have installed the new driver and done some initial testing.
It appears that the problem I had yesterday has been solved!
With the mount initially pointing the scope to Polaris I obtained the attached log-file after Connect.
1) Tracked Alpha Persei
2) Tracked Alpha Pegasi
3) Tracked Polaris
4) Tracked the Sun
5) Disconnect
(The model of my mount is CGEM DX and the GPS is the Celestron SkySync)
It appears though that there may be a problem with the Park option, since sometimes the alignment gets messed up.
I will get back about this after additional investigation.
