Skywatcher AZ GTi in Az-Mode via cable? was created by Amin Sharaf

Hello,

I am preparing the AZ-GTi for my vacation and I am a bit confused about the driver options in EKOS. I would like to operate it via cable (USB EQ direct) in AZ-mode.

What I found out so far:

AZ-GTi driver: WIFI only
EQMod Mount; works via USB EQ direct cable (without hand controller)
Alt-AZ driver: does not work via cable for me.

So it seems, I need to go with the EQMod Mount driver, but where can I set AZ or EQ mode of the mount?

Are you sure that AltAz mounts are supported by this cable? It is called EQMod for a reason...

The cable is actually a different one than the "big" EQ direct cable for the skywatcher EQ-mounts (I have that as well for the EQ6-mount).

It has not the 6 pin connector and but this one specifically made for the AZ-GTi has a 4 pin connector like the ST4-connector.

The cable works fine, I can control the mount via Kstars manually, I am just wondering where to set the mount to AZ or EQ mode. When you startup the iPhone app it asks you first step to specify the mode.

Both drivers (EQMod for Equatorial and SkyWatcher Alt-Az for Alt-Az) would work with a serial connection.

I'm using an AZ-GTi in Alt/Az mode over a homebrew cable right now, via the "Skywatcher Alt-Az" driver in stellarmate.

This cable is connect PC/Laptop (usb side) to Skywater AZ-GTI mount auto Guide Specially, other device may not support . USB RJ12 Skywatcher AZ-GTI Theodolite Free hand control PC directly connected to EQMOD cable,please double check your device before buy it.
