Curious, what platform are you running on?
MacOS? Windows? Linux? etc

I have tried 3. macOS, Windows, and Astroberry on an RPI3 and RPI4 8mb. The strange thing is Windows,I think, shows an iGuide and iPolar but iPolar is the guide camera and iGuide doesn’t seem to work. Needless to say I don’t have complete success with any of these. Astroberry worked out of the box with iPolar as the guider and CEM40 as the mount and Sony as the camera. Then CEM40 quit connecting. I can’t get it to connect so I switched to the Mac. This seems to work if I call the mount a CEM60. I think I am going to end up with a Parallels Win 10 VM to run iPolar and Kstars to run the mount. Also Sony’s Imaging Edge for camera control. This is because I can do remote focus with that. I would kill for INDI focus control of the Sony so I could do spot profiles. Also strange Astroberry was very fast but then suddenly got to be really slow for me just as some have reported.

Just as an update. Much thanks to Scott Denning who showed me how this is possible. I am now running Astroberry on the RPI but not running kstars there. Kstars is running on my MacBook Pro and remote INDI to the RPI which is connected via USB..

I have the very latest version I downloaded about 2 week ago. As an update I got everything working running on the RPI4. Now I just need EKOS to do lens focus for the Sony. It is possible to remote both focus and zoom on the Sony.

Hi Kurt, sounds like your having some good success with it all so far. I’m still trying to get the later version to recognise my Zwo camera. Probably some setting or driver issue that I’m overlooking. I can still run 3.4.3 so I’m not totally without a working programme.

I thought I would follow up with what I have learned. I now use the V4L2 which gives the iGuide camera and makes me fowl better that using iPolar. Set the detector width to 1280 pixels in the INDI panel and set the pixel size to 3.75 as it defaults to 640 and 5.6. You have to do this every time. EKOS won't let you set the integration time longer than 0.5 but PHD2 will allow you to set it up to 3.5 seconds.

Because you need to set this every time you start EKOS you can change the guid telescope to 5.6/3.75*120 = 179.2mm which it will remember. This gives the same IFOV are 3.75 @ 120. Then you only need to change the 640 to 1280.

If you save 1280, then go to Options --> Save Config, it doesn't remember it automatically next time you load up the driver?

I'll try that. There are probably a lot of things I am missing that I should be doing.

Hi Kurt (and everybody),

I'm new to the forum and I'm resurrecting this thread because I'm having issues with the iGuider.

I recently got the CEM70G and I'm trying to set up everything. I'm running Kstars-3.5.5 and Ekos on a RPi, and using VNC to access it. Ekos recognises both cameras from the mount, iGuider and  iPolar and I can configure both with the appropriate resolution and produce test images. The problem I'm trying to solve is the long time it takes to the iGuider to capture shots. For very short exposures (<0.1s), the capture and download is reasonable (a few times the exposure time, but everything takes less  ~0.5s), but when I chose a exposure time of 0.5s or longer it takes ~40s to capture the image and ~7s to download. If I select 2s exposure, the capture/download time becomes close to 1min. This problem does not occur at all with the iPolar camera, where I can set the time to several seconds, subtract a master dark, and all takes very close to the exposure time. This issue occurs when using the RPi and also when connected directly to a linux laptop. I tried on a windows laptop with the ASCOM driver to test my hardware and everything runs fine there.

I wonder if you can give me some extra info on how you got this working properly.

Cheers,
Matias

Welcome to INDI forums. I helped a friend set up CEM70G with StellarMate and both cameras worked OK in terms of exposure and we were able to use iPolar for Polar Alignment. But we didn't use iGuider for guiding (yet). Both cameras are treated as "webcams" so you can actually use "INDI Webcam" driver to connect to the iGuider and see if perhaps this driver has better results?
