[SOLVED] KStars loads with a window size twice the size of a 1920 x 1080 screen

I've been a KStars/Ekos/Indi user for a couple of years, but switched to Stellarmate last night. When KStars loads on a brand new install of Stellarmate, it is twice as wide and twice as tall as the screen, and looks all pixelated - like it was zoomed in. When I resize the window, the icons don't fit and it still looks zoomed in. Ekos' window can't be resized to fit on the screen. There is probably a setting I'm missing. Help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Dave

32bit or 64bit? 1.7.1? VNC or HDMI?

Jasem,

32-bit, 1.7.1, HDMI. Just downloaded it last night.

FYI: I flashed it on a 240GB external USB3 drive, but it works the same on a 32GB SD.

Thanks!

Here's a screenshot to show what it looks like.

And there's more. When I hooked the pi up to the scope, and used the Web Manager to VNC in, the display is perfect. Unfortunately, the only time I need it to be right is when I have a monitor hooked to it so I can polar align. ;-)

Of course it should put a properly sized window there. ,However, out of curiosity, can't you just resize the window to fit your screen?

The windows are twice the size, as in enlarged by 2X. The text and stars are all pixelated and blocky. I can shrink the KStars window, but it then can't show me anything west of the local meridian. Ekos has a minimum height, which is much taller than my 1080 pixel screen. I can't get to anything near the bottom. When it gets dark I'm going to hook up my outside monitor and see if it has "fixed itself". If not, I'm going to have to come up with a plan B for polar alignment. I also didn't put the monitor on the HDMI 2 port. I'll try that as well.

New problem when I hooked it all up on the scope. The SBIG driver says "camera not found." I switched cables, then ports and the problem followed the camera. I brought the camera in the house and hooked it to my backup Pi running Astroberry (kstars 3.5.4) (Indi 1.9.1) and the camera works. Is there a driver I need to download to get SBIG to work with Stellarmate?

HDMI issue: Looks like KStars (or rather Qt) is getting information that this is a HiDPI display and this is why everything is enlarged perhaps. You can perhaps try to SM App to switch around display modes to see if any particular setting hits the sweet spot.

SBIG: SBIG driver already included in by default. If you try to connect the camera *alone*, does this help at all? In SM Dashbaord --> Hardware, can you see the camera detected there in the USB devices?

Try running "QT_SCALE_FACTOR=1 kstars" or maybe with 0.5
Or maybe "QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=0 kstars"

To all who helped with the KStars window problem, thank you very much. It turns out that loading the NoVNC viewer fixed that problem.

I don't find the SM Dashboard anywhere. Is it on a menu or a command line?

Thanks!

I found the Dashboard. Read the docs.

Under hardware I have:
SBIG
External drive

SBIG shows all of the data when I click on it.

I used the camera last night with Astroberry and everything worked as expected.

Thanks,
