Is Stellarmate OS running a firewall? I'm trying to open a port, but blocked by "vendor preset"
Specifically, I want to ssh into sm. I'm using it in a controlled environment))

The port is not blocked by the OS by default. More likely, you are encountering a block on a router between you and the device.

If that were true, I wouldn't be able to ssh to any other device on my LAN. But I can.
I found it buried in the documentation, you use a different port, 5624.

What I still don't understand is why I couldn't add the rule for ssh on port 22 to iptables. It simply didn't work. Possibly pilot error, since it's been a long time since I mucked around at that level.

Sorry I neglected to mention the nontypical port number. I forgot because I use an alias to issue the command.

When you opened port 22 did you also reconfigure sshd to listen on 22?
