So, it's 1ft after all...
The connectors take half the length of the cable..
I am going to cut it, open the hub and solder the cable to the board...

Here's some negative advice:
This one, Amazon's choice, did not work out: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DQFGH80/ref..._title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It couldn't seem to work with the shoestring cable www.store.shoestringastronomy.com/products_eq.htm and atlas pro mount.

On Jasem's advice, I replaced it with a D-Link,
I picked this one: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005AS337Y/ref..._title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and things work fine.

I use StellarmateOS on a RPi 3B+.

I also used a powered USB hub, but without success.
"LYFNLOVE 4 Port USB 3.0 Hub with Power Adapter and Charging Port"

Most peripherals couldn't be found mostly the camera. This was before I even had my focuser. The other reason I got it was to power my lens warmers. But I ended up getting a surge protector that had USB ports. So it just sits in my bin of forgotten goodies. ;)

Hi. After having various issues keeping all my devices connected I followed the advice and got myself a powered USB hub.
I have a Sitecom CN-084 7x USB 3.0. It's fairly vompact and nice and thin. I sandwich it between the Powerbox and the Pi. Up until now it is working perfectly. I plug all my devices (HEQ5-Pro, EOS 6D, Pegasus Personal powerbox, QHY tracking camera, SensoSesto focusser) into the hub. I power the Pi and the Hub from the powerbox (using 2 BEC's to step down the voltage from 12V to 5V).

I use FITFORT 7 in 1 hub (i have found interesting сomparative artile about usb hubs here www.bestadvisers.co.uk/usb-hubs). The hub is plugged into the Stellarmate, other devices into the hub. I must admitt that is very handy that FITFORT have even SD port for SD and a separate one for microSD cards

This hub works very well. The only drawback is that it is a USB2 hub. It runs via a 12V battery and has ESD protection onboard:

Hi!

Yes, I agree, that hub woks very well and runs on 12V which I find makes it easier. StarTech also has a range of other similar ones. I now use a 7 port USB 2-hub from them. Works very well too!!

Hello! I need also a powered hub for my setup but it needs to be powered directly from a power bank (TalentCell 12V/6000mAh). I saw this one

StarTech.com 7 Port USB 3.0 Hub – Up To 5 Gbps – 7 x USB – Universal Multi Port USB Extender for Your Desktop – USB Powered (ST7300USB3B)

Do you think that will be possible?

I also have that one, it is OK, but the uplink port is one of those that easily becomes disconnected. I have everything in a self contained box, with cable ties on everything to prevent any movement. But power-wise (12V), and operability have been fine. Just don't expect it to run good if you hang it off your USB3 cables.

I'm using Astroberry btw, but I doubt it makes a difference.

+1 for the TP-LINK UH700 7-PORT USB 3.0 HUB works like a charm with my TalentCell Rechargeable 36W 12V/6000mAh 5V/12000mAh

DSLR, GuideCamera, External USB WiFi antenna attached to Hub and Hub attached to RPI4 (powered from another source).

Hello folks,

i wanna use an unpowered USB Hub on a powered USB Hub, does anyone know if this works with Stellarmate / RPI4?

It would look something like this:

File Attachment:

The unpowered USB Hub i already use works great. It is this one: Anker 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub, Ultra-Slim Data USB Hub
Plugged in at the moment ASI120MM - ZWO EAF - DSLR

And the powered Hub i wanna buy ist the TP-Link UH720 7-Port USB 3.0 Hub with 2 Exclusive 2.4 A Charging Ports

And does anyone know if an SSD works at temperatures down to -10°C / 14°F?

Regards

Danny

From recent experience, I can confirm that my Samsung T5 1TB SSD works down to at least -8.5 C.
