FWIW, I use Crucial SSDs and they work fine in cold temps (-12 C in the last few days):

Not sure if it has already been mentioned but an important factor when choosing a hub is that the cable used to connect the Pi USB to the hub to carry the data should ONLY have the 2 data and the Ground wires connected. Otherwise a possibly badly regulated supply goes straight onto the Pi's bus. A list of tested hubs can be found here:

Alternately you can just cut the red power lead.

I will just mention here that going with an unpowered hub is, for me, a recipe for issues.
I dont have data to back up that up, it is a "Just don't do it" thing with me.

I never had problems with my unpowered Anker 4 Port USB Hub. Only the ASI120MM needs power and that is also supplied by the RPI. But I want to add a WiFi USB stick and a USB SSD that doesn't work with a unpowered USB hub only.
My Mount is connected directly to a USB2 Port on the RPI

At the moment I have 3 cables that go up to the telescope. DSLR power, ZWO focuser and dew straps power (Y Cable) and my USB hub.

I don't need to supply the RPI with power via the USB hub, but if I can, why not?

I can also mount the powered USB hub directly on the telescope with a 3-way distributor for power, but then I would also have to mount the SSD on the telescope, which would mean additional weight. I'm pretty close to the photographic limit of my mount.

I have the powered Anker 7 port USB 3.0 Hub with built in charging port from that list. I've been using it for 10 months with an RPi 4/4GB and Astroberry with no issues. I don't use the charging port but have my mount, Canon DSLR and QHY camera all plugged into it. Its also 12 volt so works well with everything else. Also had no issues with it in -15C weather.

I’m currently running the iOptron CEM70g and am considering using Stellarmate Plus for a completely wireless connection.
My question is, does any have, tried or heard of anyone making a successful connection?
If not, does anyone have an opinion on whether it will work?

The CEM70g has got a powered Usb3 hub and WiFi built in. However the WiFi will only allow for wireless mount control only and not any devices attached to the hub hence my considering using Stellarmate Plus.

As I recall those came from either Amazon or eBay. The seller was called eleduino.
