RTC and RPI4

RTC and RPI4 was created by maxthebuilder

Hi All,
SM 1.4.3.
RTC works fine on my RPI3.
On my new RPI4 I cannot make it work.
I have dtoverlay=i2c-rtc,ds3231 added to my config.txt (it was there by default).
When I issue sudo i2cdetect -y 1, nothing shows up.
How to configure RTC on RPI4, please?

I2C baudrate can not be too high (Ask me how I know!)
You can try manually setting it in /boot/config.txt
dtparam=i2c_baudrate=400000
100000-500000 should work with RTC's

When you type dmesg in a terminal, do you see anything related to the RTC module?

It behaves as the module doesn't exist or defective..
I tried another RTC module (exactly the same) which did work with RPI3.
Same story. Doesn't show up when I issue sudo i2cdetect -y 1.

I got an RTC for my new RPi4 and at first it did not show up. But changing my i2c bus speed while tweaking it for my motor controller board suddenly made it show up. Or so I thought. The next time I configured the system I could not repeat my earlier success. I thought maybe the higher speed damaged it. But now I'm not sure because others are also having trouble.
