For the price, I went with the 64gb. I never come close to filling the SD. My 32 I did a couple of times.

Backups do take up 64gb's, but they zip down to about 16gb's.

But whatever you do, make sure you get the fastest SD you can find. Mine are 100MB/s, C10, U1, Full HD, A1, Micro SD Card.

One other option I'm considering is either a compact USB stick or a compact external SSD drive. These things are dirt cheap now. On the pi4 this'd be a nice option to consider I think as it saves disk i/o on your flash card, likely improve speed (perhaps) and makes moving it onto another machine easier as microSD cards are easy to loose if you drop one on the grass (been there) removing it from your StellarMate. I'd have Linux would have no issues recognising using these types of things right???

I just ordered another one. I'm going to write the older 1.4.4 SM on it (or my current one), so that I have a sable immediate way to get back to imaging. Tonight was a bust, and I had a clear night and system crashes while plate solving.

I did the stick thing for a while... but found the use of just creating a link on my PC's desktop of: \\stellarmate.local\Pictures
Much more convenient than the SD stick's. And now that I'm using ethernet cable, I can download a gig in about 25 seconds vs 25 minute on wifi.

Yeah, the pi recognizes the memory sticks, but not as system memory, just storage.
