Stellarmate app guide problem

Good day! In the application, in the guiding tab, when you press the start button, the “calibration” status appears, with a dark square, after some time an error appears. I thought it was connected with a guiding camera, but the same thing in the simulator. How can this be fixed?

What guide camera? You should be seeing images. What happens when you press the capture button? Do you see anything?

Hi Paul,

The ASI120MC (USB2) camera is known to have connection problems on Linux and Mac and now also on Windows (though with Windows 7 and before it seems to work OK). As a matter of fact, this camera has been discussed many times on this forum. Please search for "compatibility" in this forum and you'll see many threads about this camera (and others as well by the way). Some people have had luck in making it work by installing a new firmware but I myself never managed to make the camera work on Linux and Mac. The only solution is such a case is to buy another camera, for example the ASI120MC-S (USB3) camera which I have used for over 2 years now and never had an issue with. Also searching for ASI120MM (the monochrome version of your camera which has the same problem) will lead you to this thread:

www.indilib.org/forum/general/6070-asi12...b2-kinda-worked.html

where this all has been discussed.

As for the simulators, in order to not get a black image you need to make sure that the GSC package is installed. I don't know Stellarmate well enough to know if it already has been installed by default or not.

Thank you! As I will be at the computer, be sure to check. I read about compatibility issues, I know about them. This camera does not work in Linux in 14bit mode, it only works in 8bit running Kstars.

Yes, before that you have to so called downgrade to compatible firmware. I am using my asi120MC mainly for guiding now. No more planetary. :)
