I'm running 1.5.6 and dtoverlay = vc4-fkms-v3d is in there twice, once commented out.
FC V2.7 beta

I've commented the first mention of it out too and now I have freed another 20-30% of CPU usage
It can't cope with the full frame of my ASI1600MM but it can with BIN2x2 or a small ROI
Will experiment with the moon tonight.

Note: I have found that vc4-fkms-v3d is necessary to use a second HDMI display.

I thought the RPI4 would only be up to like 6-7 fps. I tried OACapture the best I can get is like 7fps.
Achieving 70 fps is a great success!

Are you writing onto a SD card or a USB3 device?
Did you try to find out the bottleneck is at the camera transfer speed itself, or at the CPU/RAM/write speed of the SD Card?

Thank you!
Stephen

I'm using a SD Card. But remember: I only archive those 70FPS when I cropped the frame to a ROI of only 400x400 pixels, valid for planetary work with my focal length, but not for example, for solar or lunar imaging.

I installed FC as per the instructions here, and got this error:

<strong>./jre/bin/java: symbol lookup error: /usr/share/FireCapture_v2.6_armhf/Ephemerides.so: undefined symbol: _ZN5Vec3DC1Ev</strong>

I see that some have mentioned to remove "Ephemerides.so".  Can anyone explain why we get this error, and what are the consequences of deleting that file?

Peter

A long standing problem with FC 2.6: some libraries are wrong on armhf processors (raspberry). I've fixed this problem, long time ago. You can try the new 2,7 beta or if you prefer, manual download the fixed library from my drive

(Those are the files linked from the official FireCapture page, so you can go through there if you prefer)

Thanks! I went ahead and downloaded the 2.7 beta and it's a .deb file. I launched it, and installed it. It did place it in the education folder - so far so good. But when i try and launch it. it just flashes on the screen for a microsecond and then quits. :(

I had recently contacted the Firecapture Devs regarding ARM 64 version of Fire Capture. This is the reply I received. JAVA does appear to be an issue they need to resolve.

I am running an INDI setup on a Raspberry Pi running, 64 bit Raspberry OS. Can
you release a ARM 64bit version for it? Thank you kindly.

Andrew,

I put Rafael on CC because we both can thank him for providing the RPi FC distro. AFAIK the reason here so far was finding a working Java 64bit JRE for the RPi. Rafael, please correct if I'm wrong.

Regards, Torsten
Yes, this is one of the problems.

I'd like to have both KStars 3.5.3 and Firecapture 2.7 running on a Raspberry Pi4 at the same time.
If the Pi4 is running Ubuntu Mate 20.04 (64 bit version) - will this be a problem?

Yes, the problem is that FC is currently available only on 32bits

I got it all working on the latest Stellarmate on a Pi4.  I do not know if the latest StellarMate OS is 32 or 64 bit.
I did a simple deb install.  No need for all the code on page one of this post.  It did require a reboot after installing.
I changed the heap to 1024, and commended out "dtoverlay = vc4-fkms-v3d" as described above.
That's it!  It runs fine.

:)

Then is a 32bits one ;). So latest Stellarmate and Astroberry both are able to run the latest beta of FireCapture. Nice. I'll change the .deb package to reduce the amount of heap memory, because larger format cameras are having problems on RPi with the current configuration.

Cheers
