Hello everyone,
My setup run perfectly. I saw a lot of updates in the Package Updater.
My question is : is it an obligation to update my system if all is right ? Do I have to wait a major update ?
I don't want take a risk
My $0.02:
Keep the current configuration as it is and label it 'stable' or something.
Etch another sd card with Stellarmate, transfer the configuration files (do we need a tutorial for this?) and run an update on that system, checking if it works as expected.
If the new installation goes haywire, you can quickly go back to the 'stable' config.
That said, you can choose when to update depending on new features that you like to use.
What I always do is that I take a backpack from the SD card whenever I make configuration change and the setup is stable. You can check the update and if you like it, take another backup and if not restore the old backup...
I keep wondering what Update Software actually does. I use Terminal to update Stellarmate. Everytime I click and open the Update Software ICON, I get everything is up to date. However, SUDO SU, APT-GET UPDATE, and then APT-GET DIST-UPGRADE gives all the latest updates. Update Software has never worked and I have recently installed Stellarmate.
