Jasem,

Has a new stable version been released?  I'd really like to get the fix for auto-focus, which is crashing my session.

Everything else is working great!

There's a new version of INDI (1.9.1) but I think the new stable version of KStars/Ekos (3.5.4) has not yet been released.

From recent experience and the various threads in this forum, it would NOT be wise to update KStars/Ekos to 3.5.4 for several days AFTER the new "stable" version shows up in your updates.

In fact my advice is to DISABLE automatic updates NOW and wait to manually update KStars until the inevitable cascade of "my Ekos is broken" threads subside around a week after 3.5.4 is released.

Partly this is the inevitable discovery of bugs in the new release, but it's MUCH worse for KStars than other ppas because we lack a server for the repository and have to use launchpad which takes DAYS to build the new version. If your OS tries to update during those days, you will be unable to use Ekos at all until the smoke clears.

You can hold automatic updates for specific package with
sudo apt-mark hold kstars indi-*
so it doesn't autoupdate. To update just use unhold command

Thanks all!

Recently, Jasem had indicated that a new stable release was imminent... so was just wondering.  The fix for autofocus is supposed to be out in the beta/nightly updates, but every time I try to change to nightly updates it kills my system.

I always try to wait a few days after stable release before I update.  However, I've finally wised up and keep a replicate SD of my current version handy.  If I have any problems during a session, I don't hesitate to switch SDs and not ruin a complete session.

This is super helpful -- thank you!

Minor point: might need sudo apt-mark hold kstars-* indi-*

so that we also pick up kstars-bleeding, kstars-data, etc
