Count *all* image frames for dither #43265
It seems currently not all frames acquired are counted to decide whether Dithering should be performed. See also
this thread
I'd suggest some checkbox to optionally disable this and really count all exposures, to enable sequences like
3xR 3xG 3xB <dither> 3XR 3XG 3xB <dither> .......

I believe there is an option for dithering after n frames if you click option in the EKOS guide module.

Yes, that is what I use to dither, and it works correct within a long set of images with one filter. But not all acquired images are counted (IIRC those after a filter change aren't).
So especially for the case I mentioned above there is no way to have it dither after the 3x3=9 frames - it's either after 8 or after 10 :(

As a matter of fact, dithering after n images does work, but only after n images of the same type. If you set n to 5, for example, and image as DerPit suggested 3 x R, 3 x G and 3 x B and repeat that then Ekos will dither after the 5th R, again after the 5th G and once more after the 5th B image.

No facts there, that doesn't work. It *does* dither after 10 images (in total) if I set it to 7. Which is after the first red frame of the second 3x3 round (i.e., 4 red frames taken so far). And then again after frame 20, the second red frame of the third 3x3 round (8 red frames acquired so far).
It doesn't count separate per filter. It just skips counting some of the frames.

OK my experience is from more than half a year ago so perhaps this has changed meanwhile.

Why not dither every frame? It only takes a few moments.

Somewhat futile discussion:
- it (IMO) doesn't work as advertised
- dithering (for me) takes 15-40 seconds, at an exposure time of 45-60 seconds. This is not 'a moment'.

another option would be to add Dither every [ ] ( X ) Frames or ( X ) Jobs
Maybe that would work?

Hmm, might indeed work.
I'm not sure if the not-counting of frames is intentionally and worth keeping. IMO it should just count all frames and leave it to the user to enter proper numbers, rather than trying to guess what he likely wants. But that might of course just be my fault, not recognizing the use case for 'dropping' them in the counter.

I, like DerPit, would be in favor of counting all frames irrespective of jobs and dither after any X frames.
